Somewhere, Pakleds Are Laughing

So Mike Lee (R-Romneyburg) wants to shut everything down until President Obama cries, “MASSA,” huh?

CHRIS MATTHEWS: How many days do you think we have, on the outside, to get this debt ceiling through before we have a problem? How many days?

LEE: I don’t know, maybe ten days.

MATTHEWS: Okay, in ten days you want to change the United States Constitution by two-thirds vote in both houses? That’s what you’re demanding.

LEE: Yes. If possible we can’t change the Constitution just in Congress but we can submit it to the states. Let the states fight it out.

MATTHEWS: And you think you’re being reasonable by saying you want a two-thirds vote in the House, which is Republican, and in the Senate which is Democrat. You want the Democratic Senate, by a two-thirds vote, to pass a constitutional amendment or you want the house to come down?

LEE: Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying and I’ve been saying this for six months.

Well, if he was looking to get the President’s attention, I’d say he got it:

“Be careful what you wish for – you just might get it.”

The wait for Election Day is going to be interminable, especially with this level of lunacy coming from the NeoConfederacy.  It will be worth it in the end, when they discover to their horror that they have lost – AGAIN.

Shadows And Portents

It’s early, WAY too early, for predictions, so here comes one anyway:

If Romney gets the nomination and loses the election, it’ll be blamed on the GOP not going hard enough right.

If Gingrich gets the nomination and loses the election, it’ll be blamed on the GOP not going hard enough right.

Either way, the crazy will get ramped up to levels that normal people will not believe; which the media will declare the new Middle Ground; and which the right will decide is too RINO and push even farther right.

At some point, the right will become convinced that it’s time to finally start the revolution and take it too far, only realizing just how badly they’ve misjudged the rest of the country and how badly they’ve just fucked up when a building has been blown up or a politician has been shot at. The ones who can scurry back into the cobwebbed corners will be allowed to hunker down for another decade or two—several of the ones who weren’t fast enough will go to prison.

Nothing will happen to Limbaugh, no matter how hard he was cheerleading for blown-up buildings or shot-at politicos.

Two things in life are certain: death, and NeoConfederates complaining that they lost an election because they weren’t hard right enough.  Scott’s comment above sums it up quickly and precisely.  Anyone thinking that an Obama landslide would end the nonsense of the last four years has badly underestimated the depths to which the GOP will sink.  They truly believe their own agitprop, and won’t be forced to disbelieve it until they get their chance to actually fight their battle for the new Lost Cause – and LOSE, badly.

Election 2012 is, sadly, just the warm-up act.

Sneaking In The Back Door

Here’s some new reading for tonight – a nice smackdown of the “Professional” Left from emiliawahoo:

The President can win now, Bill has decreed, hoping that people won’t remember that he’s called him a wussy and that as late as last September, he was subtly insinuating that people shouldn’t vote. As late as last October, he was calling the President a liar for failing to close Gitmo (ne’mind, it was Congress and the Democrats who effected that fiasco). And as late as November, he was insisting that Mitt Romney could certainly beat the President, and in the presence of his good friend, frequent guest and convicted felon, Rep Darrell Issa.

Moar like this please.

Give Them An Inch, They’ll Take A Yard…

…give them a yard, they’ll burn a cross in it every time.

“He didn’t feel that I had treated him cordially. “

Wow, REALLY?  Can’t imagine what would have given him THAT idea!

Quick thought experiment. Imagine Michelle Obama doing this to ANY Republican, in office or out, living or dead.  Do you think Howard Fineman would have taken up for her by saying, “Don’t punch down?”

Update: Annnnd right on cue, here comes the Ferengi media with their usual cowardly approach:

“Some people say” is a personal pet peeve of mine;  it is the most cowardly caveat to avoid truth-telling EVER.  The action speaks for itself, can ANY “journalist”  just say it already?

He Keeps Pitching Them And They Keep Missing Them

Dear GOP and/or Tea Party “Patriots”,

What was that line again?

“Obama’s soft on terrorism/our enemies!”

Well, add this young lady  to the growing list of those who would like to disagree and tell you to STFU:

WASHINGTON — In a daring nighttime raid Tuesday, U.S. Navy SEALs rescued two hostages, including one American, who were being held by kidnappers in Somalia, U.S. officials tell NBC News.

American Jessica Buchanan, 32, and a 60-year-old Dane, Poul Thisted, were working for a Danish relief organization in northern Somalia when they were kidnapped last October. U.S. officials described their kidnappers as heavily armed common criminals with no known ties to any organized militant group.

According to the U.S. officials, two teams of Navy SEALs landed by helicopter near the compound where the two hostages were being held.  As the SEALS approached the compound on foot gunfire broke out, the U.S. officials said, and several of the militants were reportedly killed. There is no word that any of the Americans were wounded.

The SEALs gathered up Buchanan and Thisted, loaded them onto the helicopters and flew them to safety at an undisclosed location. The two hostages were not injured during the rescue operation and are reported to be in relatively good condition.

Also, you can add “several of the militants” to the growing list of people who would like to disagree with you but cannot because they are DEAD.
