All About That Base

Human punch line and brain bleach sales generator Rick Santorum was at an event called the South Carolina National Security Action Summit yesterday when a nice retired schoolteacher proceeded to lose her damned mind.  This level of lunacy deserves to be experienced uncut, and since I’m a sharer:

Senator Santorum, thank you for being here. I’m Virginia Eleasor, a retired schoolteacher, lifelong political activist, and lifelong resident of South Carolina. I’ll ask you the same question I asked Senator Cruz. I’ll preface it by saying—Michele Bachman, I think it was king said that Boehner made a deal.

My question’s on defending this country. Thank you for what you do for national security. I’m concerned with sealing these borders and protecting United States. I’ve fought that battle all my life. And I’m losing, and it’s because I’m not getting help from my Congress.

And anyway, Michele Bachmann and King, in an interview on one station said that Boehner made a deal with Obama back in September to be on board with his executive amnesty. The American people put Republicans back in office in the House and the Senate and the two things we asked y’all to do was shut down Obama’s executive amnesty and shut down Obamacare. And you didn’t. You let us down on both issues.

Why is the Congress rolling over and lettin’ this Communist dictator destroy my country? Y’all know what he is and I know what he is. I want him out of the White House. He’s not a citizen. He could’ve been removed a long time ago. Larry Cleveland’s the one who got the judge to say that the executive amnesty is illegal. Everything he does is illegal. He’s trying to destroy the United States. The Congress knows this. What kind of games is the Congress of the United States playing with the citizens of the United States?

Y’all need to work for us, not for the lobbyists that pay your salaries.

Get on board. Well let’s stop all this and get save America.

Y’know, what’s goin’ on Senator Santorum.

Where do we go from here? Ted told me I’ve got to wait now till the next election. I don’t think the country will be around for the next election.

Obama tried to blow up a nuke in Charleston a few months ago and the three Admirals and Generals. He has totally destroyed our military. He has fired all the Generals and all the Admirals who said they wouldn’t fire on the American people if they ask ’em to do so if he wanted to take the guns away from ’em. This man is a Communist dictator. We need him out of the White House now. And the Congress of the United States is the only one — we’ve lost our Congress. We’ve lost our executive.

Let that marinate for a minute, and then consider that this lady used to teach children.

The best thing that the South Carolina National Security Action Summit could do to actually enhance national security is to evac all the sane people out of the state, then wall itself in.

UPDATE: VIDEO!

UPDATE THE SECOND: Here’s his “response”:

“I’m not a sitting member of the Senate, so I’m not taking blame for any of that stuff,” he said. “But you hit on one point to which I absolutely agree: this is a complete lack of leadership.”

In a properly functioning country, that statement would be this idiot’s political epitaph.  As it is, he could probably use it as a campaign slogan and make it work.

Snowe Job

Former Maine Senator Olympia Snowe came to town to advise the people to embrace comity, collaboration, and compromise in their chosen political candidates:

“You need to reward those who are willing to cross the political aisle,” said Snowe, a Maine Republican. “You have the power of social media to create online communities. Use it.

“The forces of division are well organized. …But the majority of Americans want their government to work. It needs to work for all of us.…We have to restore the integrity of the process in Washington.”

***

“When I started, it was important to have credible information and data..…It was all about teamwork and collaboration… But in today’s environment, you don’t have that kind of process. They’re not talking about facts. They’re talking about messaging and political talking points.…We’re on the road to nowhere these days.”

Impressive words.  I’d have been more impressed had she done the responsible thing and point out it was her own party that lost the plot.  She could also have mentioned her own role in the mess, but hey, books aren’t going to sell themselves…

Risen Like A Phoenix. A Really, Really Stupid Phoenix.

Just when I’d sworn off reading anything concerning anybody with the last name Palin, here comes TBogg to draw me back in:

“When we last saw Sarah she was making announcements on her ShoutyFace page about making announcements on her ShoutyFace page about doin’ some heavy vettin’, some hard homeworkin’ , and being very discernmental about the folks she wants her fans to vote for,  if the good Lord is willin’ and the Hoverounds start up.

But is that enough Sarah Palin for God’s Chosen Country?

Actually, it’s probably too much, but tough titties America, because Sarah Palin is going to get her own teevee network channel called Rogue TV and it will be in your cable box in your house and there is nothing you can do about it.”

The Boggster is in rare form as he theorizes about a channel lineup:

“And what kind of delightful programming  might we expect on this new addition to the other eight-hundred channels you never watch??

  • ‘America’s Top Meth Chefs’
  • ‘The Big Bang Theory Behind The Circle K’
  • ‘So You Think Bristol Can’t Dance, Well Screw You, She Does Just Fine, C’Mere Sweetie, Don’t Listen To Them’
  • ‘How I Met Your Mother’ hosted by Glen Rice
  • ‘Dr., Who Knocked My Daughter Up This Time?’

Something like that…”

Do yourself a favor and go read the whole thing – it’s as thorough a takedown of Grifterella as you’ll ever see.  Also, how sad is this:

(TLC’s parent company, Discovery Communications, is an investor in Tapp.)

Idiocracy was a documentary, evidently…

Not That We Didn’t Already Know…

…but thanks to Phyllis Schlafly (via Steve Benen):

“The reduction in the number of days allowed for early voting is particularly important because early voting plays a major role in Obama’s ground game. The Democrats carried most states that allow many days of early voting, and Obama’s national field director admitted, shortly before last year’s election, that “early voting is giving us a solid lead in the battleground states that will decide this election.”

The Obama technocrats have developed an efficient system of identifying prospective Obama voters and then nagging them (some might say harassing them) until they actually vote. It may take several days to accomplish this, so early voting is an essential component of the Democrats’ get-out-the-vote campaign.”

They’re not even trying to hide it now – they really have lost their minds.

Still The Same Old Girl She Used To Be

The fact that this woman is allowed out in public isn’t on a permanent thorazine drip sits on the House Intelligence Committee should be a crime:

Rep. Michele Bachmann defended her attempt to root out “deep penetration” by the Muslim Brotherhood into the U.S. government Friday, writing a 16-page letter explaining and expanding on her initial charges against Huma Abedin and others of being terrorist sympathizers.

In the new letter, Bachmann questions why Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner, was able to receive a security clearance despite having family members that Bachmann believes are connected to the Brotherhood.

But perhaps the biggest concern with her letters is the fact that we know about them at all. If Bachmann were genuinely concerned about terrorist infiltration in the U.S. government, one might assume that she would keep her requests for investigations secret so as not to tip off the potential infiltrators. Instead, she sent her letters to the media and then went on conservative radio host Randy Rios’ show to talk about it. In her response letter, she hints that she has access to secret information as a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence supporting her claims but can’t make it public.

This nitwit would have gotten kicked out of every unit I ever served in for failure to follow basic security protocols – how in the hell does she rate a seat on anybody’s Intelligence Committee?
