The Legion of Doom(ed)

The Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice will be suing the state of Florida for purging its voter rolls in direct violation of both the Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act, according to a letter sent to Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner yesterday.  This comes on the heels of a similar lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP on behalf of two naturalized citizens and Mi Familia Vota Education Fund, a non-profit organization that aims to increase civic participation.

As expected, Gov. Rick “Lex Luthor” Scott pulled on his Sunday-go-to-meeting jetpack and flew to Faux Snooze to tell his side of the story lie his bony ass off:

“We found individuals that are registered to vote that don’t have a right to vote, noncitizens and they voted. I have a job to do to defend the right of legitimate voters.”

Apparently, Luthor thinks rights of legitimate voters are best served by sending out letters to OTHER legitimate voters who “happen” to be naturalized citizens (including two who were naturalized within the last two years) and suing the federal government for the right to continue to do so.

Personally, I cannot wait for him to get his ass handed to him in court.
