Local Ann Coulter wannabe (contemplate that for a minute and weep for humanity) Tara Servatius resigned from her position as a blogger for the John Locke Society after posting an image of President Obama in drag with a bucket of…wait for it…waaaait for itttt…fried chicken between his legs. The image was posted in conjunction with an article on the GOP-backed marriage amendment working its way through the bowels of the legislature.
Hers was a classic pouty apology, complete with a side of “ah cain’t imagine why ya’ll so upset at little ole me”:
If it has offended anyone, I sincerely apologize for that. That was certainly not my intention. It was meant to illustrate Obama’s Southern political strategy, nothing more. An honest reading of the piece itself shows there is nothing offensive in it.
Not content to leave it there, she followed up with the tried and true double-down:
I also wanted to add that, at the time, I was searching for a picture of the president in drag to illustrate his Southern political strategy of courting young voters, a majority of whom support gay marriage. It was one of the first photos to come up on Google Images.
Dubious, and according to several who tried the search, incorrect.
She ends her routine with a “who’s the real racist” Triple-Luntz:
Regrettably, I didn’t think about the racial implications of the picture when I posted it. I simply don’t think in those terms. Unfortunately some people do.
To me, fried chicken is simply a Southern cuisine. So the picture seemed perfect to illustrate Obama’s Southern strategy. Thank you, Tara
